Conference Tour


Conference tour to the Miyajima Island and the Itsukushima Shrine (UNESCO World Heritage Site) will be held on June 1 (Fri). Participation fee is JPY5,000 but we will refund JPY3,000 for lunch in the Miyajima island and for the entrance fee (JPY300) of the Itsukushima Shrine. The reason of this change from the original plan is that the number of attendees is much more than we expected and we could not find a restaurant to accept more than 200 people in the island. Buses to Miyajima-guchi will depart from ICCH at 9:00. Participants have to be at the 1F entrance of ICCH at 8:45 with tour ticket. Buses to return ICCH will leave the parking area at Miyajima-guchi at 15:00. You can use a train to return the Hiroshima city or stay one night at the Miyajima island.

Instruction for Conference Tour


1)	Tour ticket will be handed out at the registration desk with a lunch ticket. The lunch ticket can be exchanged with cash of JPY3,000 at the tour desk near by the registration desk. We will accept the exchange of ticket from May 28(Mon) to May 31(Thu) but not on June 1 because there is no registration or tour desk on the day.
2)	On June 1 (the tour day), please come to the 1F entrance of ICCH at 8:45. Bus to the Miyajima will depart on 9:00 and arrive at a parking area at "Miyajima-guchi" around 10:00. Then you will get off the bus to transfer to a ferry-boat. You must remember which is your bus and where you get off the bus if you like to use the bus to return the Hiroshima city. You can leave baggage in the buses No. 1 and No. 2.
4)	It will take about 15 minutes by a ferry-boat to reach the Miyajima Island. In this island, you will be completely free. You can play with deer or enjoy various street foods. You have to buy an entrance ticket (JPY300) to enter the Itsukushima Shrine.
5)	You can have lunch in the island. We will recommend some restaurants at the bottom of this page.
6)	Buses to return the Hiroshima city will depart at 15:00 from the same parking spots. Please use the same bus and sheet as that you used in the morning. In case you are behind time, sorry we won't wait for you. To be at the bus on 15:00, you have to use the ferry-boat on 14:30. This is the final ferry-boat to catch the bus. The bus will take you to the ICCH or the Hiroshima station.
7)	If you go to the airport directly after the tour, you should get off the bus at the Hiroshima station to change buses. The departure time of the airport bus is as follows:

8)	You do not have to use the bus to return the Hiroshoma city. You can stay longer or even stay one night at a Ryokan in the island. On the other hand, if you have another plan in the afternoon, you can leave earlier by a train.

Restaurants at Miyajima



	Although there are many good restaurants in the Miyajima island, we highly recommend to have Anago-meshi which is only in Japan and only at Miyajima. Anago means congridae which is a kind of fish and meshi means rice. In Anago-meshi, grilled anagos are put on rice with a special BBQ sause. April to May is the best season for Anago. They are absolutely fresh. Taste of Anago-meshi is just excellent. Trust us and just one try!!

	Restaurant Miyajima-guchi( Very popular restaurant especially for foreigners at Miyajima-guchi not in the island. One suggestion: go to island and try some street food and quickly visit the Itsukushima Shrine. Return to Miyajima-guchi before 13:00 to have lunch at this restaurant. Continue to drink beer with BGM of jazz up to the bus departure time of 15:00. You cannot miss the bus even in drunk because the restaurant will close at 15:00.)
